Hi, I'm Sandra and I know exactly how this feels.
I am 51, perimenopausal, 5'11", and 250 pounds. I have completed three 100 km ultramarathon distances. Since January 1, 2019, I have not missed a single day of running or walking my 5 km โ that streak is unbroken and it is mine.
I have run through stares, comments, sideways looks, and the voice in my head that told me to stop. I know what it feels like when your nervous system talks you out of getting your shoes on, what chafing does to a long run, and what it costs a woman to believe she belongs out there.
I am not a certified running coach. What I am is a 250-pound woman who has finished three 100 km races, kept a daily running/walking practice since 2019, and helped thousands of women believe they belong at the starting line. No certificate gave me that โ the road did.
I built this course because when I started running, there was nothing for someone with my body. Every program assumed a different body and skipped the parts that actually matter when you're trying to get out the door without everything hurting.
